Staff from all functional areas of student affairs may join SPA. Our current membership includes academic and classified staff from advising, counseling, housing/residence life, student organizations, union, multicultural and international services, and other areas.

Membership

Individuals may choose to have their membership deducted annually from their paycheck, under Payroll Deduction option (deduction taken in late fall). Current dues are $10 for staff and $8 for students/retirees. Check or cash is another payment option. The membership year runs from November 1 - October 31. Members enjoy benefits such as Frontline, the quarterly newsletter; Fall reception, reduced fees for the SPA annual conference and the annual awards luncheon, the opportunity to participate in the SPA Exchange and Field Days programs, as well as a variety of other networking, professional development and social activities sponsored by the organization.

To become a member of SPA, simply print out the Membership Form and return it along with dues payment to the membership coordinator.

Be an Active Member
SPA is a grassroots organization that welcomes its membership to participate in the planning of several major activities during the academic year including the spring conference, campus forums, the fall reception, and the awards banquet. Additional events are also planned by the SPA Executive Board, in partnership with the membership. (See our
Activities & Committees section for information about all of our events.)  Members may also become more involved in SPA by running for a seat on the executive board. A number of positions are available each year for one or two year terms and draw on different interests and skills. Elections are held in April. (See our Executive Board page for more information about board positions.)
